Kristy McLaren

A private piano teacher in the Peterborough area Kristy has been encouraging children to reach their full potential and to enjoy music for 20 years.  She is  past director of the Mark Street youth choir   The ensemble included a Flute Choir, and an informal children's bell choir . She currently directs the Sandalwood Singers, an adult celtic collective.
Kristy holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree from Queen's University in Psychology and a Grade Ten Piano Diploma with honours , Grade 4 Theory and Grade 5 History from The Royal Conservatory of Music. She has recently completed ARCT practical and pedagogical requirements. 

She plays other instruments including flute and  guitar and is an active member of the Mandolin Society of Peterborough.  Also, she has completed 10 courses from Sir Sanford Fleming College pursuant to her interest in teaching children with special needs and challenges. 

Additionally, Kristy was employed by Five Counties Regional Centre for 7 years in their classroom program as a Music Therapist.  Previously she held the position of Director of Recreation at Marycrest Home for the Aged for 6 years. She has three children.
